Looking for young talented musicians

The Newbury Young Musician of the Year competition is well established amongst young talented musicians between the ages of 15 and 19. A Southern Sinfonia partnership project funded by Greenham Common Community Trust Ltd, encourages string, wind, brass, piano or percussion players of Grade 8 standard, living within 20 miles of Newbury Town Hall, to enter.

First prize is a cheque for £2,000, plus the chance to play on stage with our orchestra Southern Sinfonia – under its internationally known Chief Conductor David Hill. Entrants will be judged by a professional group of judges, initially by submitting a simple tape/disc. Heats will be held in April and the final on Sunday 15th June 2008 at the Corn Exchange, Newbury.
